Dr. Wazed Smriti Sangshad (DWSS) has taken programs to observe the 80th birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband and renowned nuclear scientist Dr. M A Wazed Miah (Sudha Miah) here on February 16.
The daylong limited scale programs were finalized at a meeting held at the temporary office of the organization at Rangpur Press Club Complex last night, a press release said today.
President of DWSS and valiant freedom fighter Professor Dr. Md. Hamidul Haque Khondker presided over the meeting moderated by its General Secretary and senior journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir.
Executive committee members of DWSS Elahi Faruk, Advocate Feroz Kabir Chowdhury Gunjan, Hasan Ali, Sajjad-ur-Rahman Sanju, Tahmina Shirin Nipa, Ali Jahur Mantu, Shafikul Islam and Belal Hossain addressed the event.
The birthday programs will be arranged at Dr. Wazed’s birthplace Laldighee Fatehpur in Pirganj upazila and Rangpur city as well abiding by the health directives in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The programs include placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr. Wazed in his village home of Laldighee Fatehpur at 9 am on February 16 followed by offering Fateha and special munajats there.
Milad mehfils will be arranged followed by offering special munajats at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque and Court Jam-e-Mosque in Rangpur city after Asr prayers seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Dr. Wazed and other deceased members of his family.
A discussion on the life and deeds of the renowned nuclear scientist Dr Wazed will be arranged at the temporary office of DWSS at 7:30 pm on February 16 with Professor Dr. Hamidul Haque Khondker in the chair
Government officials, politicians, public representatives, academics, educationists, researchers, professionals, intellectuals, civil society members and local elite will take part in the discussion.
