A 28-year-old man was shot and killed at a Metro Orange Line bus station in Reseda Friday night, Aug. 4, and a second man was hospitalized, authorities said.
Los Angeles police are asking for help from the public in identifying a suspect, police said.
Officers responded to the area of Reseda Boulevard and Oxnard Street about 7:25 p.m. and found Brandyn Rodrigo Mendez of Van Nuys and the second man in a parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.
Both men were taken to a hospital, but Mendez died, police said.
Mendez and the other man had arrived at the station and were involved in a confrontation with the suspect when the suspect pulled a handgun and fired multiple shots then fled, police said.
This was the second violent death at or near a Metro station in less than a week. On Tuesday, a man who fatally stabbed another man on a Crenshaw Station Line in Hawthorne during a fight was shot by the victim and later taken into custody by Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department deputies.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide at 818-374-9550 or 1-877-527-3247 during non-business hours or weekends. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling L.A. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
