Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Mohammad Shahab Uddin today said exemplary action would be taken against those involved in negligence that caused deaths of different animals at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.
“Exemplary measures will be taken based on the report by the investigation committee formed by the ministry,” he said.
He said this while visiting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur today as part of a site inspection on the recent death of some wild animals.
“The government led by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to conserving forests and wildlife…Therefore, if all these wild animals have died due to someone’s negligence, he or she must be brought to book,” he said.
Deputy Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Begum Habibun Nahar, local lawmaker Iqbal Hossain Sabuj, Secretary to the Ministry M Mostafa Kamal, Additional Secretary (administration) Iqbal Abdullah Harun and Chief Conservator of Forests M Amir Hossain Chowdhury were also present, among others.
The forest minister said that the death of these animals in such a short period of time is very sad.
The minister said that the body parts have already been sent to various laboratories to determine the cause.
