Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 rescued an abducted girl and arrested two kidnappers from Samader Ghat area in village
Char Bhurungamari of Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram last night.
“On a tip- off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialized
Company of RAB-13 conducted a raid at the village, rescued the victim and
arrested the two kidnappers,” a press release said today.
The arrested abductors are Md. Abu Yusuf Sakib, 22, and Md. Babu Mian,
19, of Kurigram district.
Earlier, one Momin Uddin of the same area informed the elite force on
February 11 last that some unidentified youths abducted his daughter-in-law
forcefully on January 22, 2022 and demanded Taka two lakh ransom for her
release.
Making best use of the digitised information and communication
technologies, the elite force detected the location of the kidnappers with
the abducted girl in Char Bhurungamari village.
“Accordingly, the CPSC of RAB-13 from Rangpur conducted a raid in the
area, rescued the victim and arrested the two abductors,” the release said.
During interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they sold the
abducted victim to others at Taka 10,000 and again took her under their
control after 10 days and demanded ransom from her family members.
“The arrested kidnappers had been involved in kidnapping victims from
remote areas of Nageswari and Bhurungamari upazilas in Kurigram, releasing
them after realizing ransom, raping and torturing for a long time,” the
release said.
“The elite force handed over the arrested kidnappers to Bhurungamari
police station today,” the release added.
